general description

Situated in the conservation area of Gomersal in West Yorkshire, this period terraced cottage is approximately 200 years old, and is conveniently located for all local amenities. Local Amenities. 

Surrounded by similar cottage properties, and yet close to fields, footpaths, and Oakwell Country Park, the cottage is within easy reach of  the motorway network, and surrounding towns and Cities such as Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford, Leeds and Wakefield.

The property provides an ideal base for families, friends, couples and working professionals. An ideal base from which to explore the numerous attractions in Yorkshire, whilst enjoying the space, comfort, amenities and facilities of a fully-equipped family home.

The cottage has been fully refurbished in recent years, with care to retain as many original features as possible, and now provides a cosy, welcoming and unique atmosphere.

All the rooms are spacious and furnished and decorated to a high standard.

accommodation and layout

The accommodation is arranged over two floors.

The lounge, dining room and kitchen are located on the ground floor with two large bedrooms and spacious bathroom to the first floor.

For groups of two to five people, Bronte Cottage offers one double room with king size bed, and one twin room with two single beds. A comfortable sofa bed is also available in the Lounge . Excellent facilities for babies and toddlers can be provided.

Spacious enough for four/five adults, this cosy cottage also provides the perfect atmosphere for a romantic stay for two.

There are no hidden extras. Our prices include Central Heating, Hot Water, and all utilities.

Your beds will be made up ready for your arrival, complete with Bath and Hand Towels and Complimentary Welcome Tray.

Prices are based on an occupancy of up to 4 people.

toddler friendly

A 'Baby or Toddler Pack' can be provided on request, including Mothercare cot, mattress, bedding, changing mat, highchair and stairgates as required for your little one. If required, the cot can be accommodated in either bedroom.

access

This traditional and quirky cottage has one step into the garden, one step up to the front door, five steps to the rear door and stone staircases.

Internally there is a step into the kitchen and across the upstairs landing.

Small, well behaved dogs considered. Please enquire before booking. Assistance dogs, are most welcome.

For the comfort and consideration of all our guests, Bronte Cottage has a "No Smoking" policy.

the brontes

Although Bronte Cottage itself has no direct connection with the Bronte Family, the cottage is within easy walking distance of The Red House Museum, former home of Mary Taylor, friend of Charlotte Bronte; and Oakwell Hall the building acknowledged as the inspiration for 'Fieldhead' in the novel 'Shirley'. Oakwell Hall is also the start of the waymarked trail 'The Bronte Way' which meanders through the West Yorkshire countryside passing locations of interest. Bronte Cottage offers an ideal base to explore the area featured in the novel 'Shirley' , with Thornton, birthplace of the Bronte sisters and Haworth approximately 30 - 40 minutes away by car.
